Supporting teenage girls growing up in male-led households across one of the UK’s most deprived areas — with dignity, care, and no judgment.

Missing Pink is a grassroots initiative based in Blackpool — home to seven of the UK’s most deprived neighbourhoods — dedicated to supporting teenage girls growing up in male-led households.

While fathers, grandads and brothers provide incredible love and care, certain milestones — menstrual health, skincare, relationships, confidence — can go without proper guidance or the right products. That’s where we come in.

Our approach is private and personal. We deliver directly to young women at home or school — ensuring comfort, dignity and accessibility every single time.

The things they didn’t teach you

Real talk on hair, beauty, periods, life skills and relationships — written with love, without judgment.

1

Always condition the ends of your hair — they’re the oldest and most fragile part.

2

Deep nourishment: wet hair, apply conditioner all over, leave a couple of hours, emulsify with shampoo and wash as normal.

3

Always use heat protection before any hot styling tool. No exceptions — ever.

Never straighten wet hair. The steam cooks it from the inside out. The damage is permanent.

4

Never brush wet hair. Use a wide-tooth comb in the shower while conditioner is still in — glides through without breakage.

Use semi-permanent colour, not permanent. If going blonde, do it once only — repeat bleaching can cause hair loss.

💄 Make Up
1

Less is more. A little mascara and lip balm goes further than a full face every day.

2

Don’t forget your neck — blend your foundation past your jawline so there’s no line.

3

Foundation should match your skin tone. Test on your neck in natural daylight, not your wrist.

4

Always wash your makeup off before bed. Sleeping in it clogs pores and ages skin.

5

Moisturise before any makeup — it helps everything go on smoother and last longer.

✨ Skin Care
1

Use SPF every single day as your base. Yes, even teenagers. Yes, even in winter. Neck and chest too.

2

Always moisturise. Dehydrated skin produces more oil, not less.

3

Fake tan? Exfoliate the day before, moisturise the day of tanning for an even result.

Avoid sun beds. No tan is worth the long-term skin damage or health risk.

ℹ️ Friendly guidance only — not medical advice. For any health concerns, speak to your GP or school nurse.

Avoid wearing tampons to bed. Always switch to a pad at night to reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

1

Shower daily. Warm water is all you need — do NOT douche. It disrupts your balance and can cause infection.

2

Change your pad every 4–8 hours. Never flush tampons or pads down the toilet.

🧗 Oral Care
1

Brush or scrape your tongue first every morning — it removes bacteria that built up overnight.

2

Brush teeth as soon as you wake up, not after breakfast — removes build-up before bacteria get to your enamel.

3

Floss once a day and follow with mouthwash. Your future dentist bills will thank you.

🧼

The Laundry Hack: Never leave wet clothes in the machine for hours — they go sour. Hang them straight away.

🚪

Your Door, Your Rules: If someone knocks and you don’t know them, you do not have to open the door. That’s not rude — it’s safe.

🪟

The Rainy Day Jar: Put 50p or £1 aside weekly. When something breaks or you need bus fare, you’ll be glad you have it.

Credit cards at 18 — say no. They feel like free money until they’re not. Build savings first.

💵

Pay your bills the day after payday, then budget from what’s left. Bills first, fun second — always.

👥 Friendships
1

When out at night, never leave alone and never let a friend leave alone. Stay together always.

2

Build friendships on trust, respect and kindness — not popularity. The real ones will still be there when the crowd moves on.

3

It is completely okay to say no to a friend when something feels wrong. A real friend will respect that.

💕 Relationships

The red flags you ignore at the beginning will be the reason you leave in the end. Trust your instincts early.

2

Do not settle for less. You deserve someone who is kind, consistent and genuinely respectful — always.

Never send nudes. Once sent, you lose all control. Your body, your privacy, your power — keep it.

Words to carry with you

Read one. Say it out loud. Mean every word.
